When a beautiful child comes out of his mothers womb into this much more beautiful world, his father dreams of nurturing his innocent child basically into two things- Engineer or Doctor. Remember 3-idiots “Farhan Qureshi-Engineer”. But to be true, I never dreamt of becoming an Engineer. I still remember the days of my 2nd standard when my papa used to say “My son will become a painter”, but in 4th standard “Civil Architect”, i.e. he used to derive baseless conclusions from my actions. Eventually in my 10th standard, it became evident that am born to be an Engineer, though by chance, but not by choice.
At the very first thought, Engineering to me was just a form of Professional study. I didn’t know until I joined that it is going to much more than studies-“A complete new world of experience”. This 4 years journey has disclosed many surprises for me. It has left me, merely everyone with a bunch of nostalgic moments.
My experience with Engineering is a mixture of several Steps and Bounces. The more I start loving it for one reason, the more I started shunning it for another reason. Engineering is like a beautiful ROSE that has thorns attached to it which remind me of the “Faith and Fear” concept. The Greek fought Persians not only with faith in their victory but also with fear of losing their freedom to Persians. Finally they had the taste of victory. Likewise, if we fear the thorns that hide underneath the flower, we lose the faith in its fragrance (Success).
During my first year, everyone were much concerned about their marks, the quality they inherited from Intermediate. Later started the magic of engineering- new relations, new ideas, mighty squabbles, bunking classes. I can recollect one concerned incident when our classmates got caught while bunking, by none other than our S.R.K.Raju, HOD of the department. That moment was horrifying as well was hilarious. Our class was as good as it was notorious. Right from our “COMBU”stion master to “FM-Radiomichi” lectures, we got embraced with innumerable titillating kahani’s in this long run.
When one day seemed to be filled with a ray of hope, the other would be with gloom. A person as an engineer builds himself emotionally prior to building his career. The only point I like as well as hate is “Engineering can make and break Relations”. It can enlighten one while annihilate the other, it can ignite fire between “Best friends” or could even break the ice —“All depend on “Maktub”. It taught us not only several ways to express, but also educates us what not to express and also how to express tings without humiliating others. It teaches a person the art of living and entrusting others the presence of Him, proscribing unnecessary hardships.
Perhaps, after few years down the line if I turn back my pages of my life- I can have a very vivid recollection of many unforgettable moments- Getting into running buses, fighting for seats, sharing food with friends in canteen, playing volleyball as international players though we are amateur in the game, sitting under the trees and having fun, going to labs only for “AC”, birthday parties, photos, combined studies, bunking classes for movies and most especially our VIZAG TOUR, an amazing experience.
Engineering has provided me with all ingredients of life-Love, Affection, Hatred, Caring. It can merely be compared with our own traditional “UGADI PACHADI”-which has all ingredients of life likewise. Whatsoever, Miss U Soon- My Dear Engineering .
Hey Anil.. my heartiest welcome into the firmament of bloggin !! :)
ReplyDeleteI think every engineer goes through the melange of emotions which you are going through currently.. Loved those sentences when you said " engineering can break relationships and make them as well" .. Coz i personally experienced it.. I understand the profundity of those statements !!
Appreciate the 'turning back the pages' part of the blog too !!! It made me nostalgic for a moment !!! Wish there was some time machine .. I'd luv to go back to those days of engineering which I still miss so much !! :(
A praiseworthy blog to start off with !! Keep bloggin :)
Regards,
Tarun
Hey anil ..
ReplyDeletewelcome to blogging .. even i happened to become an engineer by chance not by choice. But to be frank i am more than happy for the decision destiny took for me. I realized engineering is wat i shud be doing in my third year.
As u said .. Engineering can make or break them .. but it has also taught me how to balance them as well .. I actually wanted to write a blog on these days .. will write soon how engineering changed me as a person .. thanks 2 ur blog for the inspiration .. Btw i can see Alchemist influence on you already .. Muktab ?? hehe .. i am very happy for u ..

ReplyDelete"I can recollect one concerned incident when our classmates got caught while bunking, by none other than our S.R.K.Raju, HOD of the department."
one of them is me....:D
an interesting blog to start off with :) .. unlike u,am an engineer by choice-wanted to become a computer engineer from class 3 :) ..i have the same opinion on engineering, its like a rose..the best thing was 'going to lab only for AC ' :-D
ReplyDelete..i liked the way u compared engg with 'ugadi pachadi' : too true.. i've only one complaint-u mentioned many of our 1st yr lecturers ,but u forgot santhosh sir :-D ..
@ CNU : 'Setting the Thames on fire' is an idiom which means doing something remarkable that eventually leads to making a name for yourself. You can't really imagine setting a river ( Thames is a river) on fire rt? So if you manage to do it, you've done something unusual.. So that's the idiom :)
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Tarun
